These avocado trees are all unique seed grown cross pollinated trees. Not one is the same as another. They are grown in horse manure compost without the use of fertilizers, pesticides, hormones, fungicides, herbicides or any other artificial chemical input.
Avocado trees grow rapidly if given plenty of water, while maintaining good drainage. If your soil is too clay rich, plant your tree above the local soil level as one does in raised vegetable gardens. Create a mound of compost 3 to four feet high and 15 feet in diameter. This mound will sink down with time to one or two feet above the local soil level, but the tree will now have sufficient drainage to do well.
Trees sell at $10 per foot in 5 and 15 gallon containers or planters. A one foot tree sells for $10. A three foot tree sells for for $30.
Cover trees in the winter when temperatures fall below 28 degrees Fahrenheit (F). It is not advisable to plant these trees in areas where temperatures remain below 18 degrees F for many days.
Avocado stems or trunks are green for the first few years and are therefore susceptible to frost or sun damaage.Give your tree plenty of water in the summer and cover in some sort of wrapping to protect the leaves and trunks until the stems have turned brown and are more resistant to sun and frost damage.
